 We first noticed Flynner Homes in other subdivisions and appreciated the attention to detail and arts and crafts style of the homes. We wanted to build a custom home with the details Scott uses in his homes. We also wanted an Energy Star certified home, which Scott routinely builds utilizing advanced framing techniques (more insulation in wall surface area). From the beginning Scott helped us design our custom home. We found a floor plan that we liked, and with a lot of thought and preparation we gave our ideas to Scott, and he and his designer helped us work out the kinks to get the design right. The building process was pretty smooth, with a few hiccups along the way, but nothing major. Scott was very open to communication with him, very receptive, and returned our calls or emails very promptly. The house turned out great, we were going for a "Craftsman Farmhouse" and that's exactly what we got!

 

Scott is using quality materials put together by quality craftsmen, who take pride in their work.

  All the vendors for our "budget" items were very helpful. Especially Chris at Majestic Flooring, he helped us choose materials that would look good together, he helped us find what we wanted and also helped us stay on budget. Donna at Builders Lighting was very helpful to give us pricing on all our light fixtures and help us decide where we needed lighting. Evan at CHF helped us find the right appliances for us, and gave us pricing for other options too. Mark at Sunrise Hardwood Floors provided us a great hardwood floor with a vintage feel, they look great! For our landscaping, Anthony at Everything Outdoors helped us with the design of our landscape, and it came together beautifully, we think we have one of the nicest landscapes in the neighborhood.

Blackrock subdivision is a great neighborhood with larger lots (1/2 to 1 acre). It is close to freeway access and has great views, and is very quiet too.

 

Ryan Zimmerly with Mountain Valley is our realtor. He is a close friend of ours and spent a lot of time showing us houses before we decided to build. He was very patient and happy to talk with us any time.

 

 

  We custom designed our home and were on a bit of a time crunch in the beginning to get the lot we wanted. From signing our contract to designing, and then building our home took a little over 6 months. The only thing we would do differently is to have included some change orders/upgrades in the original price. We paid for change orders/upgrades after the original contract was signed that the final appraiser said didn't add value to our home, so our home wasn't worth as much as what we paid for it. This was our first custom built home, so we definitely learned a lot. Shop around in this market, talk to the best builders and get bids from them.
