It seems the thing to do lately is convince others that now is the time to buy Idaho real estate based on numbers. Yet, it does not work? Here is why
Again, I agree if you have money now is a great time to buy, so why is everyone else so dumb? We can prove on paper based on factual numbers that prices are lower than they have been in years, interest rates are lower as well. So what is the problem? Boise has been ranked numerous times as a best place to live work play! Yet people won't buy? There are two problems.
One. It is not safe to buy right now for the majority of people? If it is not safe, people don't pull the trigger. Gas is down finally but the stock market, the general economy, the job market and other safety gauges are unstable. If I am scared for my livelyhood I am not motivated to buy a home. On the other hand, if my job is safe, my investments are safe and sound, I believe my future is safe and I am interested in a new home i might buy. Retirees who did not lose there portfolio are probably very excited about buying a home right now and other industries and companies that are doing well.
Second problem. Very few people buy based on numbers an facts. They buy based on emotions. You can't convince me to change dentists if I love mine, even if 9 out of my ten friends recommend him (or her). Now if I am looking that is very influencial information. The real estate and construction industry are frustrated because homes are not being bought and sold when we know they should. But again, just because pricing is down on goods and services, if I don't feel safe, I don't pull the trigger
The automobile industry is trying to do the same thing, convince people with numbers they should buy a new car. Unless you really need a new car, it does not matter that you are going to get employee pricing.
So please if you are in the industry, stop trying to convince people based on the numbers. That is not what they need. They first need to feel safe before they enter the water and when they get in it has to feel right. Then they will buy.
