Meridian Idaho Students are helping build idaho!

There are many great new homes built in Treasure Valley each year but one of these home is built in partnership with the Meridian School District and Habitat for Humanity. This home is built for a grade, not a paycheck. The students are taught how to technically build a home correctly. How much extra time or money it takes to build a home is not a consequence, only that it is done based on the latest building science technology and practices. Their grades are determined by how accurate their building skills are.

Should you compare homes based on Price per square foot between home builders?

This criteria continues to surface and while it is relevant it is also only relative. The higher up the scale you go, the less relavant it becomes. If you are searching for the cheapest home, price per square foot makes sense as long as you can look past quality. Do you really believe that the cheapest home has the same operating and maintenance costs as the top end home? Do you really think that building to code means the builder trying to build the cheapest home is not cutting every corner possible?

Active West Builders of Coeur d?Alene, Idaho wins Outstanding USGBC LEED-Home Production Builder. The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) has named the recipients of the 2011 LEED for Homes Awards, recognizing projects, developers and home builders who have demonstrated leadership in the residential building marketplace. The awards were presented during the 2011 Greenbuild International Conference & Expo held in Toronto, which had over 23,000 attendees.
