Eagle, ID is recognized as the higher end community in Boise Valley and the average home values prove it. Many have coined the term 'rurban' to describe the city but it is really a thriving business community, uncrowded and still a small town.
Not long ago, Eagle was a town that was centered around Old State street and downtown Eagle, notably the Orville Jackson store. Today there is a thriving business district along the Boise River at Eagle Rd & State Street. History of Eagle Idaho
City of Eagle grew from a sleepy village of 350 in 1970 to today’s bustling community of well over 20,000. Eagle’s early history was set in motion when gold was discovered in the Boise Basin in 1862. Many chose to seek their fortune mining, but a select few came to understand that the mining towns desperately needed the agricultural products that were fast becoming the mainstay of Boise and its river valley to the west, and they centered their efforts on those needs.
Truman C. Catlin was one of those farsighted settlers who quickly realized that his real gold was to be found in farming and claimed 160 acres on Eagle Island. Originally naming his island home after his native state, Catlin was soon persuaded to rename the island to reflect the large number of bald eagles that made the island their home as well.
Eagle Idaho Growth
The largest amount of growth and change in the Eagle Idaho area and in Eagle Idaho real estate has happened since the 1970's. One major contributor was the addition of Eagle Hills golf course. Next, Hewlett Packard arrived and the growth of Eagle Idaho Real Estate began. in 1976 the demand for housing shot up including subdivisions like Banbury Estates. Since then many of the more prestigous subdivision in Treasure Valley have been developed in Eagle, Idaho. Spurwing Country Club, Two Rivers, Island Woods and many other luxury communities.

The city of Eagle is located between the Boise Foothills and the Boise River, It is , is located just over 8 miles northwest of Boise along State Highway 44. The city of Eagle has been growing quickly over thae last years and its current population is close to 20,000 residents. As it focuses on “smart growth”, Eagle can offer its residents much in the way of shopping, great restaurants, lodging and other services.
Eagle os part of theThe Meridian School District, Idaho’s largest school district. Eagle has four elementary schools including the Galileo Math and Science Magnet school which is located between Eagle and Meridian but is available to Eagle residents. Eagle Middle School and Lowell Scott Middle School and Eagle High School, located west of town, service the students in the Eagle area.
Eagle is a very family-focused community and sponsors several family events including Eagle Fun Days, a 4-day annual event held in June. The event includes a bike rake, a wet and wild parade through downtown, a golf tournament at a local golf course and live music. During the event, the Eagle Volunteer Fire Department puts on the “World’s Largest Rocky Mountain Oyster Feed” as a fund raiser for the organization. The event draws crowds from the entire valley to enjoy the festivities.
Eagle hosts two two golf courses — Eagle Hill Golf Course, near the downtown area, and Banbury Golf Course, just south of town. Both courses are 18-holes and provide a great golf outing for all levels of experience.
