Ada County, ID

Established December 22, 1864, Ada County, named after Ada Riggs, who was the first pioneer child born in the area. Ada was the daughter of H. C. Riggs who was one of the founders of Boise and a member of the Idaho Territorial Legislature. Boise became the capital of Idaho in 1865.

Ada County land area: 1,060 square miles.
Population density: 327 people per square mile
The Snake River Birds of Prey Area is in the southeast corner of Ada County.

Volunteer Sought for Emergency Medical Service Advisory Board

The Board of Ada County Commissioners is currently seeking an individual interested in volunteering their time to serve on Ada County's Emergency Medical Service Advisory Board. An appointed member of the Board must reside in Ada County. The Ada County Emergency Medical Service Advisory Board meets five (5) times per year on Wednesday evenings, and other times as needed. This is a volunteer opening, for which applications will be accepted through September 10, 2010.


Commissioners Officially Adopt Fiscal Year 2011 County Budget

On Tuesday, August 17th, the Board of Ada County Commissioners officially adopted the County's Fiscal Year 2010-11 proposed budget. 


Seeking Volunteer for Community Guardian Program

The Board of Ada County Commissioners is seeking a volunteer for a vacancy on the Ada County Board of Community Guardians. The seven-member Board of Community Guardians works to actively recruit and monitor volunteers interested in becoming court appointed Community Guardians.  The Board of Community Guardians meets the first Thursday of each month to perform the duties and functions listed in the board's by-laws.


Weed, Pest & Mosquito Advisory Committee Volunteer Needed

The Board of Ada County Commissioners is currently seeking an individual interested in volunteering their time to serve on Ada County's Weed, Pest & Mosquito Advisory Committee. This is a volunteer position. Interested applicants must live in and own a residence in Ada County within the mosquito abatement district, and must be a registered voter. This position will remain open until filled.


Online Auction of Tax Deed Properties to be Held

The 2010 Ada County Public Auction of Tax Deed Properties will take place online, beginning August 21, 2010 at 9:00 a.m. (MDT) and ending August 24, 2010.


Ada County Paramedics Director Receives Pinnacle Award of Excellence

On July 28th, Ada County Paramedics Director Troy Hagen was announced as the winner of the 2010 Pinnacle Award of Excellence at the Pinnacle EMS (Emergency Medical Services) Leadership Forum in San Diego, CA. This award is presented annually to recognize an individual, program, or group who has achieved outstanding performance and excellence in EMS, while challenging the status quo.

Officials would like Boise River floaters to be aware that the Barber Park raft & tube shuttle service will still be running during the Boise Music Festival at Ann Morrison Park on Saturday, July 24, 2010.


Ada County Gives Citizens Opportunity to Weigh-In on Budget

On Tuesday, July 27th at 6 p.m., the Board of Ada County Commissioners will hold a public hearing wherein the Ada County Clerk will present the County's Fiscal Year 2010-11 proposed budget. This will be held at the Ada County Courthouse - 200 W. Front Street, in the Public Hearing Room on the first floor. The budget hearing is specifically intended to offer citizens an opportunity to weigh-in on Ada County's FY11 spending priorities.


Public Input Sought for Ada County Hazard Mitigation Planning

The Ada County Hazard Mitigation Planning Steering Committee invites all Ada County residents to participate in an online survey designed to gather valuable public input on how local government agencies can work together to best prepare Ada County communities for potential disasters.


Ada County Opens Expanded Oregon Trailhead

Today, County officials joined together with several other agencies to celebrate the opening of Ada County's new and improved Oregon Trailhead. A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held at the site, located on the east side of Highway 21 in East Boise.
