Work-Build-Sleep... Work-Build-Sleep... They don't call it SWEAT EQUITY for Nothing. Main Owner Builder Log
We have been working on our home non-stop for the last month in addition to our full time jobs. We are both exhausted but it will all be worth it and we are proud to say that we put that siding up, painted it all, built the deck, installed the flooringthe list goes on and on. They dont call it Sweat Equity for nothing. -Also check out my helpful painting tips

My mother and I have been hard at work painting the interior and it is looking great. I have religiously used Behr paint for years and I have been really happy with it until just a few days ago. I had a 5 gallon bucket of the interior premium latex that was unusually watery. It took 2-3 coats over primer to cover vs. the one coat coverage I got out of the other buckets. It was really strange but I have contacted Behr and I am awaiting there response. I hope they make some effort to compensate me because I really like the paint.

Sarah’s quick and dirty painting tips.
  1. Buy one quality lambs wool roller w/ at least 5/8” nap for the ceilings.
  2. Wash this roller out really well and you can dry it fast with an air compressor
  3. Disposable pan liners save time. You ultra thrifty folks can even put the pan in a plastic grocery bag and use that as a liner.
  4. Get at least one good brush with an angled tip for doing corners
  5. Get your brush damp before you use it (this makes cleanup a breeze)
  6. Spray the trim and doors with semi-gloss before installing it gives you a smooth finish that is easy to clean.
I hope these are helpful for some of you first time painters. They have really helped me.
