Bring on higher energy prices . . . Main High Performance Idaho Green Builder
Crude oil jumped over $10 a barrel yesterday. The corresponding effect is expected to be $.50cents at the pumps 4 weeks from now. What people aren't noticing is that Natural Gas is increasing along the same lines.

Utility bills for homes that are heated through traditional systems in some areas are projected to be DOUBLE what they were the previous year.  When does it end?  Is the consumer helpless?

No, No, NO.

I have been a long time believer in green building but now I am hooked.  Call it an addiction, but I can't wait to see the monthly utility bills on the homes I build.  This month was the icing on the cake so to speak.  I keep my model home at 68 degrees, I leave the lights on in the master, dining room, and the kitchen 24 hours a day, and have the fridge plugged in.  The electric bill for this month was $13.  The propane bill was $8.

As technology advances and things like split heat pumps become more common the consumers who choose to live in green homes will not be as effected.  Plain and simple.

The economy is on everyone's mind as we fight to keep things rolling forward but I can't wait to see that the next monthly bill is going to be and to think about how I can make them even lower for my customers in the future.

Re:Bring on higher energy prices . . .
Thanks for your contribution.

The death of typical building is one of the hidden blessings of the dollar fall (or energy rise)

Re:Bring on higher energy prices . . .
You forgot to mention the location of your model home. Is this the one in Cascade, Idaho? Carbarton i believe it is. I also hear that McCall real estate is picking up agin. I imagine people are excited to go back up there and loking for getaway homes.
