Do you want to find a good Idaho realtor? Main Idaho Real Estate Insights
Here are 10 questions to ask.

  1. How long have you been an Idaho realtor?
  2. How many companies have you worked for since you have been licensed in Idaho?
  3. What area of town do you specialize in?
  4. How many properties in that area did you sell last year?
  5. What is your Realtor Specialty? I.E. residential, foreclosures, luxury homes, investments
  6. Do you have any references? (a list of satisfied customers I could call)
  7. Are you full time or part time? How many hours a week do you work? What days and/or nights are you available?
  8. Will you put in the time to help me find just the right property?
  9. Do you have connections with local vendors? (mortgage company, portfolio lender, bank, title, plumber, electrician, foundation company, etc)
  10. Do you have the flexibililty to negotiate with your broker?

Also, if appropriate- Do you have your own real estate investments?

There are some other questions that you should be asking as well. Open ended and probing questions will get you much more genuine answers directed towards your needs and wants.

1) Are you or your company certified by the Better Business Bureau?
2) How many homes have you sold since being licensed? (this is much more important than the number of years)
3) With nearly 4,000 Realtors in Ada County, why should I select you to be my Realtor?
4) What additional real estate designations (education) do you have?
5) What tools and resources do you have available that are unique that I wouldn't get somewhere else?
6) What makes you different from the other Realtors?
7) How familiar are you with the market segment that I am interested in?
8) Describe what you think is a successful closing for your clients.
9) Explain your marketing background (a seminar, a degree in Marketing, an MBA, etc.?)
10) Explain how you intend to keep me informed during the process.
11) Do you offer any type of guarantee with your services?
12) Can you back up your comments with facts and statistics or are they just your opinions?
13) How is your relationship with the local real estate community?
14) Are you a "buyers agent", "listing agent", "team member", Realtor, Associate Broker, Broker, etc. and what does that mean to your clients?
15) Can you provide customized lists of homes emailed to me as new homes are listed?
16) Do you have a personal website? If so, can I please get the URL so that check it out.
17) Do you have direct phone and fax numbers so that my information can stay confidential?
18) Do you have a way for me to check my transaction online during the transaction in case I can't reach you?
19) Are you planning a vacation or an extended trip while I am looking to make a decision and if so, how will you deal with me while you are gone?
20) Please provide some samples of your marketing for other homes or tools I can use if I am a buyer.

Roughly 70 percent of the people choose the first Realtor they meet. I strongly suggest however, doing your homework and interviewing several agents before you commit. When you find the right one, stay loyal!
