How do you save money in building your Idaho home? Main Idaho Real Estate Insights

The simpler the home, meaning closer to a box with four walls, the less expensive it will be. Every additional angle adds about $2,500 according to some research I recently did. Every time you add another corner, ie popout wall, extend windows from the roof, add a chimney that is out from the wall as opposed to in the house, it is about $2,500 per additonal angle. If you look at many starter homes you will notice they are closer to a box. This is because it is simpler and therefore less expensive to build.

Notice the house below.Look how many angles it has.

If you are over budget or too close for comfort and your plans have lots off pop-outs or additional accent walls remove them and see how much money you can save.

Great piece of information. Eliminating corners is one way to reduce the cost. An experienced design-build custom home builder can show clients a number of ways to reduce cost without sacrificing quality.
