What type of Idaho Real Estate are you buying? Main Idaho Real Estate Insights
No, we are not talking about choosing between a condo or single family residence or one story or two. We are talking about the purpose of your home. Knowing why you are buying may change your perspective.

Somewhere in American History, buying a home was not something you did once or twice in a lifetime but a recurring event. One study I read said that the Americans move on average every 7 years.

The problem with this is that a house now becomes an expense and an investment. Is that bad? Not necessarily but, in my opinion, the quality of the home lowers. People do not tend to spend money on something they are going to own temporarily.

Boise Idaho HomesQuality is lower because people don't intend to own it forever, therefore it is the next persons problem and the value of a home is not based on quality. It seems odd that value is not derived from qulaity but just to argue the point, how much more is an Energy  Star, LEED, or GREEN, home worth compared to a similiar home nearby. Yes, it may cost a little more but not much. As a matter of fact, there is very little value placed on what is in the walls in valueing a home compared to other home they are just viewed as 3 bedroom 2 bath  in X sqft on Y sized lot. There is no field in the MLS to search for how the home is rated in quality construction and energy efficiency.

So if you are going to buy a home, what is your intent? Are you buying a home or a house. If you are buying a home you are probably more concerned with quality? You want something that is not going to leak conditioned air and be innefficient and cost a lot of energy. You want something solid that is safe, quiet and comfortable.

On the other hand if this is just temporary housing, you are looking at price per square foot. You don't care about having solid doors, hollow fill is cheaper. You don't get the better windows that are not only more energy efficient but also quieter. Your house is just business.

One piece of infmration that a builder shared with me years ago that stuck with me. A house is a great source of stability for kids so having a home is very important to them and adds security to them.

Just my thoughts for the day,

Trey
