RADON coming to a home near you Main The Durable Green Home
Boise has not mandated testing radon yet even though we are on the border of the zone 1 and 2 radon areas in the US. Zone 1 requires radon preventive construction, zone 2 does not. well here are the results of the last five homes we tested....not good.....

Home in Hidden springs 9 part. home in Harris ranch 7 part. home on the bench off of mitchel and chinden 16.3 part. home off of cloverdale and ustick 6.3 particulates. Home in southeast boise 7 part. what is the healthy level? 4 or under is what it should read. Over 4 and the EPA recomends remidiation to bring the levels down within safe levels. Radon according to the  american lung association is the leading cause of lung cancer in the US (even more than smoking) this is not good. especially if you have small children, or asthma. if we can not smoke in public places anymore ( not that i would want to ) why aren't we testing for radon? I would recomend you test for it in your home. you can call On Point 407-5414, or you can pick up a test kit at Home Depot or other stores and test yourself, then send in the test kit for the results. who do you call? call On Point we have a partner company experienced in radon control and mitigation that can take care of your needs. from expereince i can tell you, if you have a home with the crawl open to the basement, i would test right away!  A current test on a recent remodel revealed that the homeowner was planning on moving the kids down to the basement bedrooms, the son has asthma, we tested just to see not suspecting any problems. The reading was 16.3 particulates!!!!! this is serious-lucky we cought this before they lived in the home for any real period of time! they are currently adding radon mitigation to the remodel and will monitor to make sure the levels are safe. if you are guying a home have it tested before you purchase, its simple, and could save the life of someone you love.

Is Radon testing part of a regular home inspection?
