Don't Compare Price per Square Foot when buying a new home Main Idaho Real Estate Insights
Okay, do but just remember it is a relative # in real estate.

I have been doing some research on new homes sold in 2012 and trying to decide if I should report 'price per square foot?' Seems like a good idea to view it but the problem is that it tells you nearly nothing.

For example, the price per square foot should descend as the square foot increases. This could mean that the smallest house could have the highest price per square foot even though the overall price was less? And what if one home is significantly less, what does that mean? NOw, I agree that knowing that homes in this area cost between x and y could help you more aware of what you can get for your money, but what about premium lots? How do you equate that into price per square foot?

 Possibly tomorrow we will release our 2012 New Home Report and it will have price per square foot but we hope you understand this # is relative.

One, thing that you can use price per square foot is how much it costs to build a home in Boise, Idaho. This is how much.
