What is the best area to live in Boise Idaho? Main Idaho Real Estate Insights

This is one of the first questions asked by people who are relocating to the area.

One of the first things we are glad to share is that there really are not any "bad" areas to search homes for sale. Like any city, there are more desirable areas but we don't really have places that are labeled as ghetto, drug infested, gangs or a place you would fear to go any time of the day. This is probably one of the reasons Boise was recognized as one of the Safest Cities in America by Realtor.com, Best Neighborhoods in America to Spend a Weekend by Thrilist and Top 10 Best Places to Live by US News & World Report. We read nearly monthly the City of Trees is ranked by the national media as one of the best places to Live, Work & Play in the nation. See National Accolades.

Where are the most popular places to search for a home?

The #1 characteristic in buyers looking for homes in Boise is 'lifestyle.' Most people moving to Boise are coming here to enjoy what the area offers in terms of outdoor activities. Careers, culture and education are important but many seem to be looking for what is important to them on a daily basis as well as what is important to their family. The area has so much to offer with nearby lakes, mountains, biking trails, rivers, desert and camping. Additionally, there is theatre, museums, festivals, clubs for hobbyist like horseback and much more. As you start to determine what is important to you, we can help you learn more about each area that may be a great fit for your lifestyle.

What are the top three requests for lifestyles?

  1. Near the Boise River & Greenbelt
  2. Easy access to the Foothills, Ridge to Rivers Trails
  3. Close to Downtown

The vibe that the Boise area offers is attractive to a lot of people. One thing that many clients quickly recognize is how happy and friendly people here are. Go to any store or walk along a street and someone will say hello for no apparent reason at all. What a fantastic place to call home!

Lifestyle for many people involves the outdoors but there are also a lot of people who are just looking for a place they can relax. The four seasons in Treasure Valley bring all sorts of beautiful landscapes. We are just finishing winter. The snow was amazing and my family enjoyed snowshoeing several times. Now spring is coming in and the tulips are starting to bud. So no matter what time to the year, it is beautiful and changing.

Back to Lifestyle, if you are a wine enthusiasts, did you know that Calwell is one of the top place for wineries? It is the trifect for growing grapes. Great soil, cool nights and low humidity. So really, there are a wide array of lifestyles the Treasure Valley is attractive to.

Is Idaho a Fun Place to Live?

Idaho is also recognized for its amazing natural attributes. 63% of the entire state is public lands. That means you can travel for 1,000's of miles down backroads exploring by car, 4x4, ATV, Side-by-Side recreation vehicles or motorcycles. There are also thousands of miles of hiking trails. These trails lead to pristine alpine lakes, peaks of mountains and wide open valleys with breath taking views.  You may not want to stay home all the time!

What is the best city in Treasure Valley to live in?

Circling back to the theme of Lifestyle, choosing a place to live is an individual decision. If you enjoy the mountains, check out Idaho City. Like the openess and quiet of the desert? Search homes in Kuna, Willder or Parma. If you want to explore the Foothills, the stretch from NE Boise to Ealge will appeal to you. Keep in mind that this is a very popular area and houses for sale is limited and can be expensive. The same is true for houses along the Boise River.

If you are looking to live in the suburbs, Meridian is one of the most popular areas but take a closer look at Kuna, Nampa and Caldwell.

For those who need a reasonable commute to Boise but enjoy the country check out Middleton and Emmett. These are considered towns but also tight knit communities. They are proud of their high school football teams and have 4H!
