Boise River Greenbelt 50th Anniversary: Everything You Need to Know Main Treasure Valley Life

This year, the Boise River Greenbelt is turning 50 years old and the City of Boise is celebrating with three days of community events. All of these events are family-friendly and everyone is encouraged to come celebrate a distinctive piece of Boise’s culture. The events start on 9/19 and end on 9/21. 

Thursday, September 19

Kickoff Event at the Egyptian Theater @ 6:30 pm

Boise Mayor Dave Bieter will honor the Greenbelt’s history as well as today’s leaders who continue to shape its future.

A reception with hors d’oeuvres and no-host bar will be offered from 5:50-6:30 pm in the lobby. Program to follow at 6:30 pm.

The event is free and open to the public, but registration is required. Register here.

Friday, September, 20

Time Capsule Unveiling at Shoreline Park at 10:30 am

City leaders and community members will gather together to open the time capsule buried 20 years ago containing pieces of the Greenbelt’s past

Afternoon Walking and Biking Tours

Take your friends and family on walking or biking tours along the Greenbelt to learn about its history. Multiple tour times are available

Saturday September, 21

Boise goes the ExtraMile One-Mile Run or Walk at ExtraMile Arena @ 10:30 am

Register now for a one-mile fun run/walk along the Greenbelt. This all-ages event is a partnership between the Boise Parks Department and Boise State University. A pre-race party will be held at ExtraMile Arena (formerly the Taco Bell Arena) on the Boise State University campus from 9-11 am. 

Registered participants will get a free t-shirt while supplies last. Sign up here.

Food Truck Rally and Party @ Ann Morrison Park from 11:30 am to 3 pm

After the fun run/walk, continue the celebration at the Ann Morrison Park fountain with food trucks, games, and more.

Free Jazz Concert at Ann Morrison Park @ 6 pm

Finish the celebrations with an evening of free jazz in the park. Bring a blanket, chairs, food, and the whole family!
