Treasure Valley Cities Take Top Spots in Another "Best Places to Live" List

New rankings by Homesnacks.net has released its 2020 rankings for the Best Cities to Live in in Idaho in 2020, and four Treature Valley cities stood out at the top. 

This year, Meridian, Eagle, Star, and Kuna make up the top results, respectively. To determine which Idaho cities with a population of more than 5,000 are the best places in the state to live, the site used publicly available data from:

  • Median home values
  • Median income
  • Population density
  • Unemployment rate
  • Commute time
  • Crime
  • Education levels
  • Health insurance coverage
  • Poverty rates

Here are the results:

  1. Meridian - The third-largest city in Idaho took home the blue ribbon. Its rankings for low crime, high income (#2 in Idaho), clean air, and low unemployment helped it retain its top spot for another year.
  2. Eagle - Eagle’s short commute times, highly-educated population, penty of new construction<>, and fast growth contribute to it keeping its #2 ranking.
  3. Star - Star has among the lowest unemployment in the state as well as a highly educated population. Its low median home prices and plenty of new homes<> have increased its popularity recently.
  4. Kuna - Low crime, high income, and tons of room to grow have helped Kuna become one of the fastest-growing cities in the state and nation.
  5. Moscow - Thanks to the University of Idaho, the population is highly educated. Its proximity to Pullman, Washington makes commutes short between the two cities.
  6. Ammon - Sitting close to Idaho Falls and the border with Montana, Ammon offers access to plenty of outdoor activities. In addition, home prices in Eastern Idaho are cheaper than in the Treasure Valley.
  7. Rexburg - This north Idaho city has the second-lowest crime rate in Idaho as well as the 9th cheapest median home prices.
  8. Lewiston -  Lewiston invests heavily in education thanks to Lewis-Clark State College and also has higher than average median household income. Access to the great outdoors includes Hell’s Canyon and the Snake River.
  9. Post Falls - Post Falls’ location is perfect for outdoor enthusiasts as well as those looking to travel to Washington and Canada. Its low unemployment and great home values help it grow. 
  10. Chubbuck - This suburb of Pocatello has grown a lot recently. Plenty of shopping has brought money into the town, and large companies moving there bring jobs and more economic opportunity.
