Tips to Make Your Lawn Look Like A Golf Course

Main Treasure Valley Life

Summer is the perfect time to get your lawn in pristine condition, especially if you are planning on selling your home. We know for a fact that a well-manicured lawn is essential to amazing curb appeal. The more your lawn looks like a golf course fairway, the more excited potential buyers will be about how nice the rest of the property is.

Even though not many people are lucky to live next to a golf course and have a fairway adjacent to our backyard, there are ways to get your own lawn to look ready to tee off from.

If golf is your go-to sport, Boise and the Treasure Valley have you covered. We compiled all 20 golf courses in the Treasure Valley together into one list. Try them all and find your new home course!

The stripes

Whether it's the outfield in a baseball stadium or the 9th fairway, everyone loves the look of the mowing stripes. This look is achieved by mowing in straight lines from top to bottom or left to right. Mowing in alternating directions allows the sun to bounce off the grass differently, giving the look of a light and a dark green.

Sellers pro tip: to keep your lawn looking at its best while your home is on the market, mow every 3-4 days and mow it slightly on the long side. This helps keep the grass lush and green, thus emphasizing your expert mowing. In addition, longer grass doesn't dry out as easily, which happens easily in the Boise summer heat.

Give your lawn a proper diet

Using fertilizers, soil aids, and nutrient boosters in addition to plenty of water will help your lawn stay green and avoid getting brown spots. Don't forget to give it adequate water every day during the morning and evening when it's cooler. Your lawn is working hard to sell your home too.

Proper framing is key

Be sure to use a weed whacker on the edges and around flower beds to keep the grass height consistent. In addition, keep the sidewalk, driveway, and walkway clean and clear of grass clippings. This is also one of our 7 proven tips for prepping your home for showings.

Pet cleanup

Don’t ignore your backyard as well. If you have pets that relieve themselves in the backyard, be sure to clean up the mess. If your pet’s waste has created brown spots, be sure to add grass seed, fertilizer, and plenty of water to help the patch return to its green glory again.
