Boise Tops Another "Best of" List for Home Buyers

Main Treasure Valley Life

Once again, WalletHub’s real estate data analysis shows love for Boise, ranking it as the best real estate market in the nation.

WalletHub crunched the numbers for “300 cities of varying sizes across 24 different key indicators of housing market attractiveness and economic strength”. Boise took the top spot overall, helped by an “Affordability and Economic Environment Rank” of 38 out of 300. Boise was given a “Real Estate Market” rank of 2, topped only by Seattle. What helped Boise beat Seattle in the overall rankings was its affordability, current and projected growth, and the massive influx of buyers coming to Idaho. In addition, Boise was ranked as the top mid-size city in America, which helped it top Seattle. In WalletHub’s study, mid-size cities were defined as having a population of 150,000 to 300,000 residents, meaning Nampa, Meridian, Eagle, and the rest of the Treasure Valley were not included.

Boise was also the only city in Idaho on the list, highlighting its prominence in the national real estate conversation. According to the latest market statistics (source), the median home price in Boise is above the national average, with listings lasting an average of just 31 days on market. Currently, the Boise area is battling a housing shortage, which has led to increased home prices and bidding wars on home across the price spectrum. This has not deterred home buyers—especially those coming from more expensive out-of-state markets. Since Boise is such a hot market, the market data closely follows national trends. This top ranking is another in the long and expansive list of accolades that the Boise area has received for its livability and popularity. There is a reson people love it here. Boise is awesome!

The last time WalletHub prominently featured Boise was in mid-July when they said Boise was the #2 best city in America for first-time homebuyers.
