North Boise :: MLS Area 100

Would you prefer to live in closer to downtown Boise or closer to the Foothills? Or even along the Boise River?

North Boise is the perfect location for enjoying natural beauty. Some like to sit and take it in while watching birds or deer and others want to get in the middle of it it all. The foothills provide ample opportunities to mountain bike or any other hobby. Photographers love the expansive views and the personal space found only in the foothills. There are hundreds of miles of trails and one can travel from Warm Springs area to Avimor. Don't be surprised by the prices, views like these and quick access to the Foothill trails come at a price but there are plenty of other homes for sale close by.

Living north Boise means you can also get to downtown in just minutes so if you have the need to eat out or just want a coffee at the local coffe vendors, they are very close. Southeast Boise :: MLS Area 300

Southeast Boise is a a very much sought after area with established communities and mature trees everywhere. The location offers easy commutes to downtown with tone of things to do as the Boise River is just to the south and Foothills are within minutes. The area is best know for Micron and BSU.

 

Boise Bench :: MLS Area 400

The Bench has easy access to downtown Boise as well as the interstate. Shopping is plentiful along Orchard Street and nearby VIsta Ave. The Boise Depot is a poular attraction which includes the goldfish ponds connected via a series of waterfalls. Boise Bench Homes for sale may seem a little more affordable due to the age of many houses but several high end communities are going in this area with pricy homes due to the view of the Foothills.

The Boise Bench is bounded by Federal Way to the east, Cole Road to the west and Garden City. The Bench is approximately 60 feet higher than downtown Boise to the northeast, hence the reference to 'bench'. Orchard Street is a major north-south thoroughfare in the neighborhood. The Bench (or Benches, there are three actual benches in the Boise Valley) was created as an ancient shoreline to the old river channel. The Bench is home to the Boise Union Pacific Depot and older residential neighborhoods similar to those in the North End.

Many are attracted to this area for its location but it is also becoming popular with people looking for homes that need to be re-modeled or completely re-built. There are a number of houses that are older and in need of being updated.

 

Southwest Boise :: MLS Area 500 & 550

Southwest Boise is close to downtown and the Boise Townsquare Mall so an abundance of services, shopping and restaurants are within 10 minutes of most of this area. World Center for Birds of Prey is a landmark for the area and is a great place to learn about birds in the area and from around the world.

SW Boise has several icons stores located nearby including Edwards Movie Theaters and just next door is Costco. Located off Overland is about every service you need including Home Depot, WalMart and many restaurants includng Outback Steak House. But there is more to living in Soutwest Boise than shopping. While this area is close to Boise, south of the interstate is fairly undeveloped as you head out into the country.

 

West Boise :: MLS Area 600 & 650

What a phenominal area. On one end you have the West Boise YMCA and at the other there is Milwaukee Ave witht eh Boise Towne Square Mall and all the shopping available there including Cabelo's, REI or Best Buy. Northwest Boise :: MLS Area 800

Northwest Boise is property off State Street, west of Boise, and east of Highway 55, running north into the Foothills. Views come at a premium price but the ability to see across Treasure Valley as the sun sets and across the desert to the Owyhees is a worthwhile investment. Property in the foothills is more likely to see Deer, Coyote and many bird species and on rare occassion bears, cougar, wold and elk and have been known to be spotted.

Be aware that if you are considering building in the foothills, construction can be more expensive as code requirements are much more stringent with erosion, fire and the grade on which the home may be built. A home may require an engineer to work the land and an architect to design something more fire resistant.

Life in the Foothills offers much more than what one finds on the valley floor. Hiking and biking are popular but there is also photography, birding and hunting.
