Over the last couple of decades, Star has transformed from an agricultural-centric town into a city in its own right. New subdivisions, new jobs, and wanting a slice of life away from the main urban centers has raised interest in Caldwell. In spite of this growth, Caldwell still proudly displays its farm town roots. The rodeos are some of the best in the state and the West, and Simplot is still an agricultural and economic powerhouse.

Star has been considered a suburb of Eagle but in the last year has really started the formation of becoming its own market. This area for years was known as a rural setting and now has a number of subdivisions with hundreds of homes; though still just one stoplight. Several small businesses have popped up the last two years making it more attractive and starting to create more of a local economy.  Homes for sale in Star are now receiving multiple offers on average and sell in around 7 days now compared to 26 the previous year. The median sale price of a home in Star was $432,925 in 2020, up 3.33% from 2019. The median sale price per square foot in Caldwell is $176, up 12.25% since last year.

The City fo Star real estate market seemed to bottom in 2011 and has climbed steadily over the last 9 years. Demand for home over the last 4 years has spurred new construction. Heron River, The Lakes at Pristine Meadows and other luxury communities have attracted many people that may have been outpriced in Eagle. There have always been a number of communities for fist time buyers but now everyone is looking for locations that are convenient access to the area and the city of Star is an obvious choice. Over the last three years, new construction has been in demand as there have not been enough existing homes for sale. Developers are feverishly working to bring more lots to market. While much of Star's rural roots are disappearing, it is still a city in the country with easy access to big city services and amenities.
