Homes for Sale near Boise Greenbelt

In 1964, Boise completed a comprehensive plan which included updating the zoning ordinances. The city then acquired land along the river to create a “green belt” stretching the entire length of the community while a grassroots effort cleaned up the waterway and created public access to the greenbelt corridor. In 1966 and 1967, three small parcels of land were donated to the city to launch the “green belt”.

In 1968, the first Greenbelt Plan and Guidelines were adopted by the Board of Parks Commissioners. Since then, the City of Boise has pieced together numerous parcels to expand the pathway so thousands of people can enjoy walking and bicycling year-round along the 25 miles of pathway.
