Gem County, Idaho

This area is mostly known for Emmett and the Cherry Festival each late spring. Other notable places inclue Freezeout Hill, Ola, The scenic Payette River, fed by Squaw Creek which meanders through the County. Emmett is located at the head of the “Valley of Plenty”. The area is known for its fruit orchards, Sage Hen Resevoir, the Black Canyon Reservoir, and much more!

The Gem County Historical Village Museum is a great trip for everyone. The five-building complex is dedicated to the collection, preservation and interpretation of history of Gem County and the lives of the Native Americans who first inhabited the land. It is also highlights the contributions of the trappers, miners, and settlers who made the irrigation system and the fruit industry  possible through a large collection of photographs. Don't miss the full sized period displays of a general store, a turn-of-the-century parlor, and a one room schoolhouse!
